Dear prospective client,     We would like to inform you and possible educate you on insurance matters relating to the construction industry.  Tinkermen’s Construction, Inc. is fully insured.  This means that we carry both liability insurance (in case we damage any of your property) and Workmen’s Compensation insurance (in case an employee is injured on your property).  Liability insurance is considerably cheap and anyone can get it.  Workmen’s Compensation insurance however is quite expensive and you must be a legal company with the state to get this.  Many homeowners are told by contractors that “of course I’m insured” which, can often mean that I have liability insurance only.  Please verify with any contractor that they are covered by Workmen’s Compensation and ask to see proof.  This prevents individuals from hiring day laborers under the table who may not be qualified for construction.  Keep in mind that if an under the table or cash only employee is injured on your property you are responsible for the injury and can be sued to recover related costs.  We, at Tinkermen’s Construction, Inc. have only real employees and carry this coverage to protect ourselves, the client, and the employee.  If you would like an original copy from our insurer please call Virginia Reiss Insurance Agency at 215-536-5600.
